Well I've been mowing with my old 63" Bobcat for years with non-functioning deadman switches on the handle bars and yesterday it finally happened. I was finished and headed to the shed top park the beast and locked the right side hydro lever and my left hand slipped off, the machine was in a higher gear and the throttle was 3/4 full when it threw about 6 feet from the velke, the blades were engaged and the there I was laying on the ground in awe as watched the machine spinning around itself out of control. I wrestled back to the controls and shut it down, then sat there in shock thinking that it could have run me over. Well needless to say those deadman switches are the order of business today.
I guess they are there for a reason, I will never neglect those safety devices no matter how inconvenient we all find them to be.
