From what I have seen so far, this has to be the most informative tractor site on the net. Need advice on new JD purchase: I am trying to decide on whether to buy a 09 X320 w/ 65 hours for $2900 (from dealer) or a 99 GT235 w/ utility cart included for $1800 (private individual). I have 1.5 acres and some 30 degree slopes in backyard. May want to add a snowthrower on it too for the MI winters. Any recommendations?? Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum:MTF_wel:
Between the 2 remember one is a lawn tractor(X320) the other is a Garden tractor (GT235) The price is Fair for both machines. If it were me I would go with the GT but that because I need a machine that can run a tiller as well If your plan is just mowing and Snow blowing the X320 would be fine. If you want the versitility such as tilling or using sleeve hitch implements IE rear blade or Plow The X320 takes a 44inch two stage snow blower( which now has electirc lift for it as of 2011) The GT235 takes a 42inch single stage blower But can take a aftermarket Bercomac 40 or 44inch two stage blower http://www.bercomac.com/produits_souffleuses_pourTracteur_ang.php and bercomac makes a fine product and is usually lower in price than Deere.
The 1999 model GT 235 did not come standard with a Hourmeter but could be added.
The GT200 series are some of the best Entry level GT's made
The X320 has a K58 sealed trans the GT235 has a K71 serviceable trans. (trans fluid can be changed) Hope this give you some Idea Between the two models your looking at.:thThumbsU
