Just picked this up from the dealer on Friday and I'm already second guessing my purchase. Over all it's just ok, just seems very cheaply made. And yes I understand that's what I paid for and could have stepped up to a GT, but I really don't need a unit that big.

Engine seems to hiccup while mowing / driving I chalked this up to the EFI learning. When it starts it's very rough before it smooths out

Steering very loose - small and flexible tie rods with ends like you find at the hardware store

Rock hard tires (even dropped pressure down to 10 and they are still hard and not very compliant)

How are others experiences with this unit?

If you aren't happy with it, take it back to the dealer. Tell them you want it fixed or replaced. You are the customer and it is their job to make you happy.

If you are asking, that is probably not the tractor I would have gone with. The EFI engines are made in China and the XT2 SLXs only have a Tuff Torq K46 differential in them. I know it is about $1000 more but if I was to buy a new Cub cadet I would minimally go with the XT2 GX54 D as it comes with a Kohler engine and a K62. Still I understand its not in everyone's budget, certainly not mine (my stuff is old and used), but I have hard time recommending a machine that I won't buy myself. That said there are a lot of people who are quite happy with their XT1s and XT2s, so it probably will be a good machine once the bugs are worked out and so long as you don't ask too much from it.

See how it does on the next cutting. If you notice anything suspicious, take it back to the dealer for a lookover. Don't assume something is normal. I'm dealing with a issue on my XT2 GX54 stalling out during cutting. Been an intermittent issue ever since I got it. I assumed it may have been a dirty air filter, but finally had the dealer look at it and he can't figure out what the problem is and warranty runs out next year. If you notice something, don't let it linger. Let us know how it goes on the next cut.

Agreed, that's why I was wondering if anyone else had this problem.

Cut again the other day and it is growing on me. I like the tight turning radius and the larger tires don't spin on side hills like the smaller ones did on my old tractor. I like that the deck lifts really high so it doesn't catch on my shed threshold. I dropped the tire pressure from 25 down to about 8 and the ride is waaaay smoother. The engine hiccup seems to have calmed down a bit. I'm thinking it might have been either bad gas or the computer was still learning. I ran the tank very low and will fill with fresh next time and see if that helps too.

Thanks for all the replies.

I had some super unleaded 93 octane left over and my XT3GSX was empty so I filled it up with the 93 octane. I notice it ran a little better and no small back fire when I shut it off. I may run another tank full of 93 just to see if it was a fluke but it seemed to like the 93 octane.
You might try a higher octane and see how it behaves.
When I mow it pretty much takes a whole tank every time so my gas is always fresh in my machine so no issues with old gas for me.
Can't hurt to try new higher octane fuel.

I have only run ethanol free 90 in my XT2 and other lawn equipment. Actually the easiest station to fill up by my house has it for a good price. Unfortunately, my car requires 91 minimum so I have to fill up my car at a different station.
