I spotted this 1250 on Craigslist about 6 miles from here. It's from the 70s, the retired owner had it for years and his hobby is restoring garden tractors. It has original decals and I saw "before" pictures, really good condition. The quick attach 44" mower deck I'm getting with it. Kohler 12hp hydrostatic drive. It runs like new.
He also has a 1000 10hp manual for sale.
Cast iron differential, heavy duty throughout.
I needed it like a hole in the head!

Thanks for the kind words. I couldn't believe how nice it was either (you should see his house!). He has quite a collection.
Now I have the Deere 3038 w/ attachments, 2 Cub zeros and Granddad's Power King (same Kohler motor). Next week I'll get Granddad's Yazoo mower.
Am I crazy, or is it a guy thing?

You don't seem any crazier than the rest of us ...but if it is something you are worried about...this is not the place to come to get away from it....they don't make them like that any more

The downside of it compared to your XT2 GX54 D No Diff/lock The Nice thing about the 1250 was it could be Hand In Manual . Manual with spring assist , electric or Hydraulic Lift Could even Install a set of front outlets and Have Hydraulic angle for the Front Blade I have it's Bigger Brother a 1450. The 1450 & the 1650 came standard with Hydraulic lift

Hey Sevenhills did it come with the side panels ? As that was standard on all the quiet-line Model except for the 1100. The 1100 which was IH attempt at a Model to compete against Wards & Sears and other Retailer store Based tractors

Looks Great though even without the side Panels (y)

I didn't show extra things that go with it. His retirement hobby is that kind of restoration. As he said months of work+parts, obviously not for profit. The problem now is I really hate to use it, I didn't see a blemish anywhere.

I have a 1450 with all Original Paint The Only thing not original is the seat . But as soon as I got it Home I took the deck off I will never Mow with it But Might Plow the Garden and tow Drawn equipment behind it But Nothing where it will get to dirty (y)

IH made the cubs until 1981....became its own division at MTD until late '80s ..then just made by MTD....no longer a separate entity..the ones made by IH are indestructible simple and solid as the iron and steel they were made of

IH signed a deal with MTD in Late 1980 early 1981 to sell the Cub Cadet Line to MTD as they needed the Money IH went into over Production on Cub Cadet until April 1981 In that time they also Moved the Parts stores to MTD new Factory In Brownsville TN and the Cub Cadet corporation was formed MTD was the Money Behind the Cub Cadet Corporation and CCC would Produce Cub Cadets for Both the IH equipment dealers and The CCC outdoor Power dealers The stuff for IH would still be painted Red But MTD would Produce it Until 1985 Winter 1984 International was entering a deal to Have Tenneco Purchase International Harvester equipment Tenneco was the Parent of Case at the time Well Until about spring 1985 CCC Produced the Red Cub Cadets some of the Last red Cub Cadets did not Get the IH Marking because MTD had already Ran out of Stores & the deal was done with the Sale of IH to Tenneco By the end Of that Production for the Most Part the CCC Graden tractor after 1985 were Built On the IH designed Frame Until 1998 Some changed to accommodate different Transmissions But for the Most Part MTD continued to produce the IH design frame with Hood or cosmetic changes The 2000 series Was the 1st MTD designed Cub Cadet and then the 3000 series in 1998 was the second MTD designed Cub Cadet Garden tractor Not related to IH at all except for the Shaft drive which was always the IH Marketing On there Garden tractor since 1963 with the Introduction of the 70 & 100

MTD In the Mid 1990 I think it was 1995 Put the By MTD with sprigs of Growth on the Cub Cadet Tractors By 1996 they Took off the By MTD and left the 3 sprigs or Growth as People were Not ready to except there Cub was a MTD Product

Barksdale A little Personal History I grew Up Next door to the IH Cub Cadet Test engineer(Late Donald Stevenson) and he brought his work Home sometimes So I had the Pleasure of see Many Cub Cadets before they even had a Model Number or decals

I was about 8 or 9 when I saw a Quiet Line wide Frame Tractor Before it was In Production and I saw the Plans for the 82 series before it left Paper and was Put into test Production

My Neighbor retired from IH Before the 82 series went into final Production as the Outdoor Power equipment department could see the writing on the walls That IH was going down and the 82 series wasn't going to help with sales because of the Color scheme a executive decided that all Cub's Needed to be Red a Person that had No experience with the Cub Cadet Line Many of the Design & Test engineers retired or Moved on to other Parts of International.

The People that Normally had the say On the design and color scheme were Cut out of the Loop on the 82 series many saw it as IH's first death Blow as they look back at it now

To a Point Cub Cadet is still treated Like it Own company Has It's Own HQ on the MTD campus
