I`ll turn 76, the 1st week of April. Been thinking about a Zero Turn mower for about 4 years now. Decided to order a new 42" Hustler Raptor a few days ago, as a birthday gift to myself. Delivery is expected to be on the 29th.

I have .75 of an acre, so it should fill my needs. Time for a new adventure. ------ John

It will not take long to get accustom to a ZTR. One word of caution, avoid the natural temptation to spin it around on one wheel as this will likely destroy the grass it that spot. Keep both rear wheels turning in some direction, forward or backwards.

Hustler makes great stuff. I had one of their commercials Z's and mowed a lot of grass with it. you will love it.

be careful going down anything more than a slight hill head first, if the rear wheels break traction and start sliding, you won't have control. If you're mowing across the face of a slope, turn to face uphill to start your turn around

Thanks to all for the tips about a Zero Turn. 99% of my ground is flat. The only slope area is along the road and a small amount on one side of my driveway. I have always mowed across the face and turned uphill, even with my regular riding mower. It only requires about 2 passes.

I know there is a learning curve on a Zero Turn, but I`ll make friends with it. The new mower arrives today around noon. ---- John
