Listed locally on Craigslist for $500. I swapped a $300 shotgun for it. He showed me everything worked and loaded it for me. I just backed it off the truck and haven't had a chance to play with it. Don't know anything about the 14's so it'll be fun learning. Here's some pics. if I can get it to work.

Nice score.

What's the lever sticking up through right rear fender?

Not sure what that lever is, it was raining when I got it home so I just unloaded and got it under cover. I'll have a chance to check things out this weekend. Those anti scalp wheels are some heavy duty which is good for where I mow. I'll include a close up picture later. Now, let me try to post one of the pictures, I'm not the sharpest tack in the box when it comes to computers.

Hey, it works, thanks Mike.

Yes, it's a hydraulic control valve but it's not hooked up to anything. I think the PO might have been going to put a 3 point on it. I have a complete 3 point set up on a 1650 I bought for parts. Think I'll put it on the 14. I have about the same knowledge of hydraulics as I have of brain surgery so I'll be looking for help on that probably. Climbed on it and mowed a couple of test strips with it a few minutes ago, does fine except I think the governor needs cleaning and adjusting. Question: Is it best to set engine speed and then adjust your ground speed with the high/low range shifter and the hydro lever on these? Basically that's how I do my 1650 except it's done with the foot peddle. This weekend I'll change all fluids and install a new plug, fuel filter and air filter. I love the way these tractors look. Hope I'll have time this fall to repaint and find new stickers for it. The serial number is 1944007900. Do you use the last four for the build year? What do all the numbers mean?

Thanks.

Yeah, that's a nice spot for the hydraulic valve.
Maybe you could post a good close up pic or two of how
it was done, when you get time.

According to

http://www.mytractorforum.com/images/reference/serialxl.pdf

it's a 1976.

PM me your email, and I'll send you a manual.(pdf format)

On a side note. As I'm typing this, I'm looking at the smileys to the
right, and I'm seeing a green tractor front and center. Yumpin Yimminy, when and why did that happen? At least this is handy. :thSick:

That's a sweetheart of a machine and it will look better when cleaned up. You got a good deal because as you know you can't mow the lawn with a shotgun (although I've tried... at least until the neighbors took it away from me). :D

That 14hp Kohler K is one of the best engines ever made, check the throttle shaft in the carb for slop, if its worn they do make kits for them and when you get a chance decarbon the head. :thThumbsU

I enjoy operating my 16(same as 14) more than the 1650s or 1655.The hydraulic lever on the right fender would be real nice espeically when using the disc hillers on the 3pt tool bar.BTW there is a considerable amount of difference between the 3pt hitch on the 14/16 and the 1650.

I was looking at a picture of the 3 point on a 14 and I think I can make this extra one I have for a 1650 work. That'll be another project for another time. First I want to spruce this one up some. I'm really liking how this 14 looks.
