so i cleared some property for a lady up the road from me and in return i got a 20g with mower deck and snow plow. yes the hours are correct 399.5, got it back up and running last night. needs some wiring sorted out is the solenoid and ignition switch are bad. other than that the only things i can find wrong with it are 2nd and 4th wont engage in either high or low. the roll pin is moving the shaft i checked all that so it must be something inside either a shift for is broke or missing or a gear is stripped off. the motor runs flawlessly and the pto works great as does the hydraulic lift. needs a seat as well. going to straighten it up and put her on the market. anybody got any ideas about the transmission i am all ears

Wow. What a deal. Right place right time.
got the wiring sorted out and this weekend going to open up the trans case to find where 2nd and 4th are hiding. i mowed a little with it and was suprised by the power this thing puts out. i wonder if there is any way of knowing how much hp goes to the pto for the deck drive system? and can anyone tell me what year this tractor is?

It looks like a 1990-92. The engine serial number code says 1990. Jason

Being as that there's no hydro or belts to slip since the PTO shaft is a direct drive from the engine output gear, your likely getting close to, if not the full, 20hp.

also looking for a seat for this beast. anyone got a good one for sale or trade message me with pics and price. thanks
Where was it broken?
the lower one was missing its roll pin that engaged the 2 4 shift fork on the vertical shift shaft
That's all? When you first described the problem, I was a bit concerned about what you would find in there.
me too, just ended up being a .25x.75 roll pin. who would of thought it was that easy
got a slight issue, my forward lock doesnt stay locked on the pedal. it goes great in forward or reverse and i set the clutches as per the directions on the forum. if i got the adjustment too tight could that be my culprit? there is not backward or forward creep like it is way overtightened. it will even stay locked for a little bit then its like it works its way out.

Its the bolt comeing off the axle block. Thats what controls the lock into forward. Kinda sounds maybe to tight. Hard to say with out being there though
