Very nice Mhex and welcome to the forum. The tires look good and looks like it was stored inside. Keep us posted on your progress. (pictures)

Thanks. Yesterday I pulled the head off and found the bad seat. I knocked it back in drove it around and actually was cutting with it until it popped out again. I haven't messed with it much today, been busy mowing. Auto part

I'm going to give peening a try. I saw on another thread, where the guy had the same engine with the same problem, and someone suggested this stuff called "silver steel" it's liquid but it withstands 3000degrees. I might give it a try. It is a hydro, and the 46in deck is in pretty good shape.

I would be concerned about rings if was run that way. Air cooled engines don't run very long when the fins get plugged up. If the rings have lost their temper she will smoke if you get it running again.

I had a tiller with a briggs that popped a valve seat out. I was able to put it in and peen the aluminum around it with a punch. I worked for a while before it spit it out again. I sold it and the new owner put it back and peened it again. It still runs for him. Its really just a temporary fix. The seat should be replaced with an oversized one and the block has to be machined to give the proper interference fit. I don't know if valve seats like that are available for your engine though.

Its neat little tractor, I haven't seen many older Whites around were I live. What engine is in that one?

I actually had it running, I didn't see any smoke and the other side has great compression. My intention was to buy this and drop a opposed 18hp kohler that I have on it. The only thing is that it runs pretty strong even without the other side running at full capacity. It's a 16hp opposed Briggs and Stratton. I will throw some more pictures up once I get them.
