New MTF Member

Howdy all MTFers,

Brand new member here who has spent the last 8 hours poking through the various threads (just finished Wingnut's epic F-12 restoration story- wish he'd give us one last update). I can see that I'm really going to enjoy this site. Happened to run across the site as I was searching for help on starting problem for my Toro ZTR (model Z 325).

I grew up farming 'baccer here in NC. Lots of Ford 6xx and 8xx models for heavy work and nearly every farm had a Farmall Super A or 140 for cultivating the row crops. Our's was a little unusual in that my Dad liked to pinch a penny so he bought the Ford 541 to do double duty which used the 6xx 4-cylinder, but the frame was higher and the engine offset to allow for the cultivation duty. They are some very rare models these days.

After marriage and inheriting the farm I bought a used '82 JD 650 for $5000 that I used for 15 years mowing, grading, brush cutting, pulling logs, etc. Sold that rascal for $4800 after all that time. Sounds pretty good, but I sure wish I had it back. Only major repair during that time was to replace the voltage regulator. The Toro mower that replaced it requires $$$$$ service every year and has no versatility although it does mow nice and is very fast.

Anyway, just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying the site. One thing that is so much diferent from most web forums is that the member posts are so nice. No baiting or flaming and such, just compliments and great suggestions and a little friendly ribbing. Thanks for letting me into the MTF community!
