Hello all, I just bought a CC 104 this weekend. Came with the K241a and K301a as a spare. I am from Indiana and I do lawn mower derbies. I had sought out to buy this mower with intentions to run it in the derby. That was, until I saw how good of condition it is in and how well it is built. So I have since decided to restore it. I have several questions about restoration and am wondering if I should post them in this topic or under another category.

Restore it? It looks brand new!
Believe it or not I actually got it for $175 with the spare engine. It currently doesn't run but is in good shape.

I want to rebuild the engine but dunno if I should keep the 241 on it or put the 301 on. What do you all think? Where is the best place to get rebuild kits? Also, I'm thinking about repainting it and putting new decals on it. Is this a good idea?

I tried jumping the a/g from the battery in my truck and it turns over but will not start. I started to look at my wiring and saw that someone has "hacked" it all up. That being said, should I buy one of the advertised wiring harnesses or just run the wires myself by looking at a wiring diagram. I'm also not sure how long this thing has sat outside before I got it so would it be a good idea to go ahead and replace the condenser, switches, relays, etc?

welcome, it looks in vg condition...pretty sure that was out 1st cub too, if it had a creeper gear.

back in 77 for 300 we got that with the deck, rototiller and snow blower. But that was a lot of money back then.

I saw that when I bought it. The guy said they were put on that way to keep from tearing up the grass. Don't know if I believe him or not.
