Thanks, I will check out the ebay adds asap. I was speaking to the local dealer and they were able to tell me that it is a "K2" from the VIN, this makes it the last generation so like you suggest 87-93.
I would assume this listing is somewhat correct to determine the date range build for your particular model year (it is off by one year on some models when compared to production dates on
www.tractordata.com). However, the manufactured dates are not delineated by year and serial number groups for all model years.
For example: if you own a 4514 as I do and the serial number is in this group ( (1989-1997) (Frame serial MZAS-1000001-1999999)
) it is probably not a 1997 model year, or vice versa. It is probably not a 1989 if the serial number is in this group ((1989-1997) (Frame serial MZAS-4100001-4199999)).
However, what is odd about this listing is that I have seen 5013's advertised as 1997 models. But the Plano listing suggests that production stopped in 1995. Probably the best explanation would be that 5013's were still in inventory and sold in 1997 but manfactured in 1995.

Note: I am not trying to suggest the link below is dishonest as it is a very good site with lot's of valuable information. Maybe the Plano production dates for the 5013 aren't exactly correct either. TractorData.com doesn't have any data for the 5013 and 5518.

Tip: You can download the owner's manual (not service manual) from this site - it is free. Click the link and then save to a local directory as a pdf file. You'll need a free copy of Acrobat reader to read the manual.
