Just wanted to say, "Hello!" I'm new here, and totally new to the world of tractors...well, not even new to the world of tractors...yet.

I just ordered ordered a brand new John Deere X300 today and if all goes well, the delivery truck will be showing up with it sometime on Wednesday. This will be my first tractor, so obviously I really don't know squat about'em. All I know is that this one has the Kawasaki 17hp motor.

Obviously, I need the tractor for yard-work, but I couldn't help but notice the photos of the suped up lawn tractors behind the salesman's desk. After showing me a few pics of his own tractors, I immediately decided that I wanted to modify my tractor.

My wife was with me during the purchase, and wasn't real thrilled that I want to modify the tractor and we don't even have it yet; understandably so, because I've been talking about how I want to hot-rod a tractor when we get one, and now I've received just about all the encouragement I needed from our salesman.

Anyway, I guess since this is the Intro-thread, I'm supposed to tell a little bit about myself, so here goes...

I love anything with wheels. It doesn't matter what it is. If it has wheels, goes, and stops, I will drive it. It doesn't matter if it's a motorized wheelchair, go-kart, moped, whatever...I will drive it, and I will love it. I have a serious addiction to anything with wheels. I have an even more serious addiction to modifying anything with wheels that I own. :D

:MTF_wel: RatedZ , nice to have another "mountaineer" on board and congrats on the new ride. Thanks for giving ole WV. your vote at the represented states thread too :fing32:
Thanks! I can't wait to get the tractor! I should have heard from the salesman today by 3pm, but never did. He had to order one because they had just sold one earlier yesterday. They were supposed to get one in today, which was supposed to be mine, and delivered tomorrow.

I'll give the salesman a call tomorrow and see if they'll be able to deliver it tomorrow. I sure hope so, because I am totally psyched about it.

RatedZ,:MTF_wel: I have heard nothing but good about the Kawasaki motors. You can see used JD's with the Kawasaki motor on EBAY with 1000
hours or more and still going strong.:thThumbsU

I sure hope ours last that long! I have heard that the Kawasakis are pretty decent, but I'm just a big skeptical of the 17 hp moving such a tractor. Some of the LA series tractors were pushing more than that, and they're smaller tractors!

I test-rode the X300 before buying and it seemed to have plenty of zip, so maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Even though some of the LA tractors and my X300 have 17 hp, are the torque specs different between the two, or something?
