Hey everyone I just made an account here. Some advice would be super helpful. I picked up a John Deere D105 I think it’s one of those Home Depot versions, but it won’t go into gear. I’ve got some pictures here that I took:

I think I need something to connect the gear to that tiny metal bar sticking upright, not 100% sure though. If anyone can help me that would be super appreciated. Glad to be on the forum.

Thanks

Yep post this in the JD section.

Quick question. Is your drive belt working? If not it may be in gear just not turning the pulley. just a thought.

Welcome and good luck.

I’m not sure if my drive belt is working I haven’t gotten it started yet it needs a new battery. I’m trying to get a parts list on what it needs to see if it’s worth it to fix it. Guy I got it from said it runs just won’t go into gear. I’m not a hundred percent sure but it looks like that round medium sized black gear sitting on that tiny metal bar should be held by something else but I’m not sure what. From what the guy I got it from said it sounds like you couldn’t like push it into gear the lever.

Appears you need the pulley with the female splined hole. Last time I bought one of those it was about $30 I think. It is held on with a C clip. You'll probably have to go to a JD dealer with your machine serial number and other info.
