One of the things to remember is, your 60 hp tractor will pull just about any mower out there, 6', 7', 8'. If your cutting tall hay size material, you'll run in a lower gear, if your cutting pasture grass and weeds, then step it up a gear or two. My son mows his airplane runway on his farm with a 15 foot bat wing. What's he pulling it with, a 50hp John Deere. He pulls it in 3rd gear. But, it's only 6" grass.

I have an IH 784 which I am told is about 60 HP.
I think the 6 ft. mower is the usual choice, but would a 5 ft. give me problems. I'm considering using it in tight spaces as opposed to open pasture.
