hello, i just wanted to introduce myself, after taking about 3 years away from being green, my previous deere was a 1983 314, it finaly died, i bought a husqvarna..worse decision ever..i cracked the block after 200 hours..but anyways im back, i am the proud new owner of a 2000 345..i think i got a great deal on it i paid 2900 for it, it had 780 hours, it came with a front mount thatcher, and a rear 14bushel bagger. Im still learning the ins and outs of this mower. Is there anything that i need to watch for, and keep on top of? also is there a reason that i cant find my mower listed on the deere website? the only non current 345 is an X series, which i know had diff lock..but anything i should know i would love to learn and grow with this site, as i really like my mower and want to keep her around awhile.
Thanks

Pay Mr.Bolens 1000 no mind, he's just "green" with envy. :sidelaugh

You will enjoy your 345. Check your fuel pump and make sure it has the drain hose on it. If not I recommend replacing it. Old style leaked when worn out and a number of 345's have burned up because of it.

I think you got a good deal if its in good shape.
Good Luck! :bannana:

actually i know the hose is there due to when i first looked at it, i ran it, then after i turned it off, fuel ran from that hose lol...they replaced the fuel pump..no leaking fuel..but i think the carb may have an issue i am going to call about tomarow..it runs great then u can turn it off and it will surge at middle throttle then die..then u can turn it on, and it will run like a champ so who knows lol...but thanx for the great welcome

I have a 2000 345 that I beat the **** out of. It has 2100 hr on it runs as good as it did new.I take really good care of it.Change the hydro oil and both filter every yr. I cut 4 hrs a week, blow snow, till my garden, and use it like a bulldozer with a blade. This is the best tractor JD made for the money. They say a x540 is comparable but I think not.

Hi kool345 , :Welcome1:

Glad you came back to the GREEN side :greendr: , that is definitely a good price for the Tractor and attachments ... I would suggest changing all fluids and filters for a fresh start , as the new owner ...

Later,x595

Now that you said it, he's going to back up and mow over it just to see if the 345 can handle the "tough jobs.":sidelaugh

thanx for the great welcome everyone...its kinda funny, i was checking the underside of the deck out..i dont kow what the PO did to the mower, but it looks like he ran over a paint can or something..the whole underside was covered in white paint. and u can see small mounds of white paint on top of the deck were the small bolt holes are..unless this is some sort of deck protection i know nothing about lol

It will handle a path light, but you might want to sharpen the blades after.

Part of my pre-mow checklist is to mow a section, then pull all the solar powered pathlights, 30 or so, in the mowed area, along with all the other obstacles that can be moved. Don't know if your were solar or not though.

I've ran over lots of stuff accidentally and have a cracked shoulder on one of my spindles. I just noticed it this weekend when I had the deck off. It's been mowing fine that way for a while though, because I haven't hit anything with it lately, since I know where all the rocks and stumps, etc are now (mostly). I was mowing along and thought to myself, wow the crickets really are getting loud this evening, but why'd they stop when I shut off the mower deck? Uh oh...
