Nice find. I wish I could find one at that price.
SCORE! **** of a deal for a 5000 and it looks super clean too!
I wish it were a hydro...but for the price I couldn't pass it up...It has it's flaws and has been used but it is the cleanest I have seen this age and price.
Can anyone enlighten me as to about what year it is? The previous owner says it is a 2007 but I have my doubts.
First 6 digits of the serial should be the manufacture date (under the seat)
OK the first six on the serial# are 100203...So I take it to read as Oct 02, 2003... Is that right?

On the engine I see: Model # 40H777 - Type 0241E1 - Code 030826YG...So would that be Aug 26, 2003 ??
I was kinda figuring he was before I bought it...Still in such good condition and the price...I still think I got a steal...
From what I see you did very well. I don't pay a whole lot of attention to year on equipment. It's how well cared for it was, to me.

I have the exact same model. Easy to operate. Plenty of power. These are 2003 models. $650 isn't a bad price to pay for a running condition GT5000. I bought mine for $500, but had to sink another $200 into it to get it running again.
mxdriver,
You have the same model? Does yours turn sharper to the left than the right? I can get about a 20-24 inch radius turning left and about a 48 inch radius turning right...Is this normal or should I go digging for a potential problem?

Hmmm. check the front axle, front wheel spindles, and steering linkage/operation for any damage or bends. I had similar problems on my LT1000, and it turned out to be the crappy stamped steel axle welds giving out.

Your machine is built like a tank though, with a cast iron front axle (i believe)? So just give a good look around.

Great find by the way. And that 6-speed tranny is indestructable...

Yea it has the cast iron axle...Steering wheel is straight to the direction of travel straight...I'll have to get under it and take a looksee...
I'm pretty sure I can turn sharper to the right. Maybe it's designed that way because the discharge chute is also on the right. Crawl under the frame and check out the steering linkage. Put a few squirts of grease on the teeth. As long as nothing looks damaged, you should be fine. Check to make sure both front wheels are parallel to each other.

OK I took a good look tonite. It all looks good as far as what I see on your pic, mine is the same with the sector gear centered. I get full swing on the sector gear both ways sitting still in the garage but driving it I get less right turn. Makes me curious. When I turn left I get 3/4 turn from center on the steering wheel. The steering wheel top is now at 2 o'clock. When I turn the wheel to the right I get 2/3 turn from center and the wheel top is now at 8:30 o'clock.
