Hi. I want to rebuild the entire fuel system lines (except obviously the injectors - pump lines) on my 1968 UK Diesel 4 cyl Ford 5000. She has the SIMMS pump and dual fuel filter, and I want to change it for a single filter. Im going to do it all by myself, with 5/16 steel brake lines, and robber fuel hoses, just like OEM.
So, the only issue is that I'm not sure if I should use compression fittings with a brass ferrule sleeve or to double flare the lines. I think that compression fittings is how the system was originally designed, and it should be ok (its a fairly low working pressure), but double flare is way safer and will last for long time. But I don't know if the Lift Pump and the Fuel Filter Head port are going to work with a double flare line.
Any ideas?
