I've been lurking around a few weeks and figured maybe I should finally join since there is a ton of info on here, maybe I can even give out some info at some point. I just recently bought a Cub Cadet Model 123 strictly as a fun project. been working on tearing it down and rebuilding it. Trying to document everything I do on youtube so people can show me where I go wrong. I have very little experience with engines which is why I bought it in the first place. I'll see everyone in the cub cadet forum! And I'll be lurking in the others just to see what's going on.

Welcome to the Forum:MTF_wel:
Welcome! Sounds like a really cool project.

Also, please post the videos when you get a chance (if you took any yet). There's a number of really cool restorations of cub cadets on youtube if you do a search that you should check out if you haven't already.

Sounds like you are gonna learn either way.. Remember the definition of 'experience' It happens.... right after you needed it! :banghead3:fing20:

We're looking forward to your video.. Here's a post (or 2) for ya to read on those rainy fall days:

SaturnV, to be honest, your video of you restoring your sears suburban is what got me interested in rebuilding an old garden tractor. From your channel, I found 500Passwords' and have watched both his 129 and his wheel horse restore a few times trying to catch pointers. I'm pulse301 on youtube also, I'm subscribed to both of you.

here are my 3 videos so far (in order):

I've also started a blog: http://ihcc123.blogspot.com/

I'm a couple videos behind on the blog. I found that I like commentating more than I like typing, haha.

This weekend I gotta take a look at my throttle linkage on my carb. I didn't remove it during the carb rebuild, which probably means I melted the bushing...but like someone said, you get the experience right after you need it. I also plan on doing some more dismantling this weekend, since i need to get the engine out and figure out the knock.

Ok, terrific.

I was inspired to get into this hobby by ol' 500. I actually wanted a Cub in the first place, but kept getting beat by other craigslisters by mere moments. So when I cam across the Suburban, I jumped. I should have just relaxed and kept after the Cub, but as it turns out I've had a blast with the Suburban, and eventually backed into the 882 which turned out to be fairly rare. Once you get your first 2 or 3 tractors, the things start multiplying in your shop. :fing32:

I'm off to watch your videos now.
