new D140 problems

Hi all,

I am a new JD D140 owner from Australia. I have a couple of questions if I may.

My main issue is a 'striping' effect when cutting at a higher setting. At first I thought it was due to the deck NOT being level, so I levelled the deck, but the problem is still the same.

The problem is LESS obvious if I cut at a height of 1.5inches (but this is too short). The problem is MORE obvious the higher I cut. Please see the photo below, which I think I cut on about 2.5 - 3 inches.

The centre blade is definitely spinning, and definitely mounted the correct way!

I sent the following photo to the dealer, and their response was it is due to the 'type of material' I am cutting, e.g. a very dry spindly type of paddock grass (not lawn).

Their suggestion has been to try some "high-lift" blades instead of the normal ones. I have not yet tried this though.

Id be interested in anyone's thoughts/suggestions on this.

Lastly, I am confused about the home maintenance kits! According to the manual it says the home maintenance kit for the D140 is: LG263. However, according to my dealer this is incorrect, and there is no kit available yet for the D140! Is there somewhere I can get an actual list of the part numbers in the LG263 home maintenance kit so I can check for myself?

Thanks very much.

I don't know if this might apply to your D140, but I remember reading a thread about a three bladed deck on another type mower that was cutting poorly in the middle.
Apparently the belt was routed incorrectly so that the center blade was turning backwards.
Good Luck.
