Finally bought one of these beauties. Searched long and hard for an original owner 318 in original shape, even had the grill emblem. Paint is mostly original with some touch ups.

Owner passed away. He had all the manuals that came with the tractor. Meter shows 8xx hours but no longer works. By its condition I'd say it's not too far past that number.

So what preventative maintenance should I do first? What fluids should be changed? Land vehicle Vehicle Lawn Grass Tractor

Check the spark plugs and wires. Change oil and hydraulic fluid. Check to see why the hour meter isn't working before you start using it much. Could just be a worn out meter, or a broken power cable.

Make sure you belly screen is in place and that the firewall insulation is there. Change engine oil and filters, and I would change the hydro oil and filter as well. Dont know the Deere number on that filter, but the Napa number is 1410. For fluid use ATF type F or Deere's low viscosity hygard. I would use what is in it now. If its pink, probably ATF. If its yellow, its hygard. You'll need six quarts of that.

Look for Ddogg's sticky on a run-through for a new 318. Congrats.
