I originally planned to mount my engine in the traditional fashion with four fixed bolts and then apply tension to the belt that goes to the jackshaft with a spring tensioned idler arm. The option has come up to slide the motor mounting bracket and tension the belt with a bolt that moves the whole assembly . This would replace an entire pulley assembly with a simple bolt. What is everyones thoughts am I missing something ?

So the belt to the tranny will always be under tension, correct?

How would you change gears?

The tension assembly is there to absorb shock. Don't discard it.

The belt is going to a jackshaft from the jackshaft 2 separate belts are going to the front and rear axles which have tensioners on them. The axles are hydrostatic.

Even though the 2 belts attached to the jackshaft have tensioners to absorb shock ?
