I have an old rear tine tiller and the metal shield on the back that covers the tines broke off. The metal shield itself didn't break, the metal pin that held it on rusted in place and broke and I can't get it out of the sleeves. I thought it I could find some type of long hinge that I could just weld it onto the tiller and shield. Has anyone here done this before? Any other ideas?

I found it to just be a PITA when reversing so the shield on mine is held up permanently with a bungee cord. Mine uses a piano hinge.

I used a couple of door hinges, like the ones on the back door to the house .Spaced them on the sheild and put a long 1/4" rod thru and bent ends over slightly.....:fing32:...they were laying in the tool box , free is my way of doing things.....:fing32:
