I am new to the classic tractor hobby, and have picked up my first one. After reading many threads here I have learned it is built by murray of ohio, but am unsure of the year. The model #502.257040, build year 8115. I will get pics up in alittle bit.

yup, thats a murray built tractor.. late 70's early 80's

classified as a garden tractor due to the heavy duty transmission and large rear wheels.

looks good for its age ..I bet i will work very well also
have not tried to start yet. the engine is free and does move by hand. it rolls freely, is missing some parts but i hope to find those. I am wanting to restore and use for my wifes garden and my R/C racetrack. would changing to bar tires be bad or should i keep the turf ones on? I want it to look right.

Bars are awsome looking! The bars get soooo much more grip.
