Ok guys, I need some opinions on what I should do. I have a '90 16g with roughly 800 hrs on it. It has your typical wear. The body is in pretty good shape. I bought a new deck shell for it at the start of mowing season and rebuilt the spindles up, new blades, tuned up the motor. It fires right up. I recently purchased an entire transmission for it hubs and all.

Well a local guy here near me has a '99 16g with the Briggs vanguard on it. Electric lift, its spotless. He got it from a church that just recently upgraded to a zero turn. It only has 400 hours on [it]. He said he'd trade but he'd end up parting my mower out, or he'd take 1800.
If I tried to sell mine with the transmission included what would be a good asking price and even then should I even do it?
Honestly, no offense intended by adding punctuation to your post. It has had 109 views and not one reply. It took me a few tries to get the gist of it, and I hope I have done it justice. :hide:

Punctuation is everything!

Example:
Let's eat, Grandma!

Let's eat Grandma!

With regard to your question:
What would I do? I would probably end up with two nice 16G's!
Don't let him part your nice machine out. :(

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Ditto! Your machine is running great, and you know how well it has been maintained. The hours you mention aren't enough to cause any significant worry. Add the second machine to your stable if you want, but don't part your current one out, as it still has a lot of life left in it. I'm not sure how much you're saying he's asking for the other 16G, but I'd say $1800 is a bit high, in my opinion.

Two Gravelys are twice as good, or more, than one! Reality may be however, that you can not or do not want to own more than one. I own a few, but bought them all rather inexpensively and improving them has come to be a hobby.

The reason i did not post an answer to your thread, was simply that I do not know enough about the Vanguard power source or electric lift to offer an opinion as to which might be the best single tractor to own.

Aside: it wasn't the puctuation. But I confess quietly I did read it a couple of times to understand. Heck, I do that regularly on a lot of things.

You did not mention what engine your 16G has. i was guessing by year it likely is an M18S? I think that is a proven and capable set up and for me would probably be what i want, if I were not going to own both.

Good Luck.

PS - if you can post a picture(s) of your machine, and the other one, you may pull some additional substantive opinions. As you likely know there is a ton of expertise watching. Pictures will help them understand many issues you and I might not be aware to ask about..
