Management of and (MTF) House Rules (Revised) Sept. 5, 2020

Ownership: This forum is owned and operated by VerticalScope (VS) Inc., 111 Peter Street, Suite 901, Toronto, Ontario, M5V 2H1, Canada.

Management of the Website: A combination of both VS staff technicians and members of the site who are selected as volunteer staff manage MTF. The day to day running of the site is done by the volunteer staff who are empowered by their positions to ensure the rules are followed.

General: Registration to this forum is free! There is a paid Premium Membership available which reduces advertising if a member so chooses to apply for.

As a world-wide publicly available website, MTF must comply with all applicable laws.

Although the administrators and moderators of MTF will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners (VS) nor Xenforo (developers of the forum software) nor any staff, paid or unpaid, will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By the act of posting on MTF you agree to the rules and warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violate any laws.

The owners of MTF reserve the right to remove, edit, move, or close any thread for any reason.

Final decision as to a post or series of posts having a negative impact on the community at MTF rests with the staff of MTF

Reserved Rights: MTF is a corporate owned site. Membership in MTF is a privilege, not a right! As such, membership may be denied any individual, or revoked for an existing member, at the sole discretion of site management. We reserve the right to edit/delete posts/threads/signatures, in whole or in part, at our discretion. Any post/threat/signature that we deem inappropriate for viewing will be dealt with accordingly. If you have any questions about actions taken against a post/thread/signature, please contact the appropriate forum’s Moderator(s) via the Conversation feature or by “Reporting” the post.

Forum Rules: The following are a general list of rules for our community. We want a community of users that respect each other and each other’s opinions. These rules may be modified or amended at any time without prior notice:

1) User Accounts: Only one “User Account” per individual is allowed. Additional accounts will be deleted without notice when discovered, however if an additional account were created to re-enter the site due to unforeseeable issues it will be merged with the original account. Usernames that are offensive in nature will not be accepted, and those accounts may be deleted. Whether or not usernames are offensive will be determined at the sole discretion of the MTF staff.

2) Personal Insults/Abuse: This site is provided to you for free, and you are free to disagree with other posters, but if you stoop to personal abuse, racial or ethnic slurs, obscene comments, flaming , or other attacks on another forum member, your post(s) will be deleted. If you have a problem with another member, deal with it privately. If YOU are insulted by another member – report the post. PLEASE DO NOT RETALIATE! If you do retaliate, you are no better than the abuser and you till will be treated as an abuser as stated above.

3) Swearing: Please refrain from using any vulgar language that would offend someone else, we want to keep MTF family-friendly. Any shortcut to vulgar language (abbreviations, special characters) that would indicate vulgar language also constitutes swearing. (See George Carlin’s “Seven Dirty Words” if you need a hint.)

4) Cross Forum Posts: You may not create multiple threads (duplicates) in the same or different forums on the site to get wider dissemination of your issue or if no one answers your question. Instead bump it rather than posting again. Reading the same question repeatedly in the same or different forums is the best way to annoy people and the worst way to get answers.

5) Illegal/Unsafe Suggestion: Please no pointer, how-to, etc. of any illegal/unsafe practices. (example: By-passing Safety Switches)

6) No Porn: You may not post pornographic material or pointers to it.

7) Advertising for Sale and Needed Items:

  • For sale items owned by members or needed by a member may not be posted in the open forums, if you need to post an item you own for sale or request to buy please use the For Sale and Wanted to Buy sub-forum in the Shopping Mall forum.
  • Members who put up links to other website sales should put them in the “Classifieds” area in the Shopping Mall forum

8) Political or Religious Posts/Comments: Political comments are not allowed, and no derogatory/controversial religious threads allowed. If you are not sure, don’t post it!

9) Solicitation:
  • No solicitation posts for legal advice, opinions, or promotion of websites created for the purpose of personal or class action lawsuits.
  • No solicitation of members to join a personal website or “channel” for the purpose of increasing personal revenue (monetizing). We will allow a link in your signature and you may assist site members with information from a personal channel related to an issue they have posted about on a per case basis.
  • Commercial Solicitation: No commercial solicitation may be done on MTF without first becoming an approved Site Sponsor. You may contact VerticalScope, the site owners, to become an MTF approved Site Sponsor.
10) Conduct: Conduct contrary to the intent of having the friendliest tractor forum on the Internet will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Pointless arguments
  • Hijacking of posts
  • Calling another member out publicly
  • Rebuking or ignoring administrative and moderating staff of the forum
  • Creating or partaking in any hostile exchange which creates tension or anxiety

Procedure for site discipline:

There are consequences for violating rules in the “real world”, and there are consequences for violating the rules on MTF. The goal of these action is to maintain a “friendly” and civil forum. MTF staff reserve the right to permanently ban any member depending on the nature of the infraction at any time. However, the following procedures will be followed when possible.

  • First infraction: A warning will be issued and will be noted in the Moderator’s Forum. If the severity of the first infraction is deemed excessive a suspension of 24 – 48 hours may be imposed.
  • Second infraction: A warning will be issued and will be noted in the Moderator’s Forum, AND a suspension of membership privileges for a period up to 2 weeks will be imposed.
  • Third infraction: A warning will be issued and will be noted in the Moderator’s Forum, AND a permanent ban will be imposed on the individual.
Rescinding Infractions:

  • A first infraction warning may be rescinded, at the sole discretion of the site management, after a period of 6 months. Provided that the member has conformed to MTF’s rules.
  • A second infraction warning may be rescinded, at the sole discretion of the site management, after a period of 1 year, provided that the member has conformed to MTF’s rules.
  • A banned member may request reinstatement after a period of 1 YEAR after the ban was imposed. Approval of reinstatement is NOT AUTOMATIC. Approval of reinstatement, or declining to do so, is at the sole discretion of the site management. Reinstated members must avoid receiving ANY warnings for a period of 1 YEAR or an irrevocable lifetime ban will be imposed.
