Well I decided to work on first 400 series tractor I had acquired. I got this machine four or five years ago and it had been sitting in my driveway ever since... It's a red 430 with an Onan NB. When I got the tractor it had frozen King Pins and the prior owner broke the old fashion steering box trying to steer it not realizing the king pins were frozen. It also had a dead electronic ignition module and a broken fuel pump. All easy things to fix huh, lol....

I had purchased a rack and pinion steering on ebay a few years ago. It needed to be welded into the frame. The tricky part here is making sure everything is at the right angle and lines up with the correct geometry. This spring I bought my first welder, so Friday night after work I decided to tackle this project. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I used another machine that has the rack and pinion to figure out all the angles etc...

I decided to make a custom fuel pump by making a block off plate and using a Briggs and Stratton Vacuum pump, this only costs about $15 and works awesome ! I also made a new fuel line. I bought a 5' piece of 1/4" brake line to accomplish that. A couple cuts and a few bends later I now had a working fuel system..

All that was left now was the ignition. I used the crank trigger system I developed on my other 430 Onan. I hooked it up and we now have a runner.... Here are some videos if you are interested. Now I have flat tires which are preventing my from testing the tranny. All the linkages for forward reverse etc are frozen up too... But it should be in operation soon

I am glad this motivates you. I was supposed to be assembling an Onan CCKA for my 450, but you can see my motivation got side tracked, lol

That's true . I drove my 817 Last week so I got to use a CCKA , that helps the motivation too...
