Here are pics after the undercarriage was rebuilt and refinished, mid way through the bodywork.

Looking nice. Eaven with the panels all cut off, I can see that its not that rotted... thats real good. Being its a 6 cyl car it probably has not been thrashed the last 40 years, so it is probably nice and streight. What are your plans?
Is it a 68 or 69? Coming along nicely. Gonna swap a V8 in it or leave it stock?
Im guessing a 70 becouse it has a steering lock
I almost cryed. My first car was a 68, 230/6cvl. 3 in the tree, same color as you have. Loved that car. Dumba$$ed me bought a new 78 F150 and parked the car. Then sold it for $300.00, running and tagable. Please keep us with pics. Really want to see end product. My guess is 68, original rims and hub caps too. Car looks in great shape before the rebuild.

Brings back memories... My buddy had a '72 with a 400 stuffed in it.. That thing was siiiick! :Stop:

Your's looks very good.. It sure hasn't been up in good 'ole NY (aka-the land of SALT!) Post more pix when you can!:fing32:
Nice work! Brings back a lot of memories. The first car I learned paint and body work on was a 74 Nova that my dad bought for $100. (1981) I wasn't even old enough to drive, and in fact never got to drive it before he sold it. I did a '68 for him a few years later. (Owed him a few dollars!:fing20:) Can't wait to see the finished product!

It's a 1969, totally stock (well whats left of it) 62k original miles. Been sitting in a barn for the last 15 years or so, I got it from the original owner who lost interest. It's getting all new sheet metal since the body was rough. Solid enough I guess, no rust or rot but still trashed to the point where all new panels were easier. I've got a Sonny's 565ci sitting on the engine stand but I'm not sure if thats the way to go for a street driven car. I've also got a 496ci stroker thats a little more mild so it's between those two on the motor. I set it up for a big block but thats as far as I've gotten on deciding the powerplant. I'll have some more pics up soon, just finished the body work, put on the front clip and put in new glass.

Here's the 496 stroker I'm pondering. It still needs a fuel system and ignition but its all brand new, never been fired.

Awesome, looks great with all the new panels. Always loved the 68-72 Nova's. Either big Block will make it a bear to handle, the Nova's were always light in the rear. They are great looking cars though. Don't forget frame connectors or you'll be cracking windshields alot. Keep the photos coming. Take care...

ahhhh, the REAL Novas. Sooooo much better than those awful toyota clones they tried to pass off on us in the 80's. Made me want to cry when my '87 Nova had a pukey 1.6 liter 4cyl engine, and a 3 cyl snowmobile had more horsepower than my car!

But yours is lookin good, keep up the fine work!
NIIICCCEEEE!!! that car was always on my top 5 of cars I wanted. Sure has come a long way from the beginning

Frame connectors are in, a roll cage is next on the list. These cars are light but they sure are not rigid :)

2 of My brothers and I Had a love affair with a 72 Nova SS , My older brother bought it in 73 , Did some Head work on it and put in a big cam, I Bought it from him in 76 (Nice ride for being in High school) I then sold it in 78 to a guy at a local garage Who re did the body and put a sweet built 327 in it (the original 350 had seen its better days) Then My older brother bought it back from him with out the engine and did a few things with it including adding a new 4 speed tranny with a vertical gate shifter, Times were tough so we bought another 327 from a brother inlaw that was mildly built but an older engine and my older brother and I went on the road looking for work, This was in 81, We ended up in Oklahoma , Found work there and in 83 we went to a race shop south of OK city and Traded the tired 327 for a Built 350 4bolt main engine + some hard earned cash. Then in 84 he sold it to my younger brother , who had the body redone again and repainted. I Moved back from OK in 84 My younger Brother moved there when he bought the Nova from My older brother. He moved back to Iowa in 86 and had just sold the Nova before coming back. Which was too bad as I wanted to get it back for myself. But we had alot of fun and great memories for 13 years in that car and I have owned , That 72 a 69 ,70 and a 71 over the years .

That looks like a '70, 250 ci, with the 2 speed Powerglide transmission, can't really tell with the trans shifter.

I had one and it ran great. Make sure and check the steering wheel where it mounts for cracks, mine broke off there while driving. I handed my dad the wheel and said, "you drive". I drove the last 2 miles home using a set of vise grips. (Really slow going.)
