So Padula Brothers delivered my X738 today. First I'll apologize for not posting with pictures, and I'll load some tomorrow.

Next let me state that I was not at all disappointed with my X580, not one bit. What has happened is that even with all of my attachments I still found a need for down force, and above all else 4WD.

The X738 brings all of that to me in spades. I purchased the tractor with a 48" deck, 54" blade with left right option, and 3 point hitch. The tractor itself is the largest heavy duty garden tractor I have ever seen, just oozing with a muscular look that actually shocked me when I saw the X738 beside my X580, even though I had driven an X7xx last year at a dealers lot.

Next I put the heavy duty cat 1 receiver adapter on and leveled the hitch, worked the front blade, raised and lowered the deck, and became familiar with using the hydraulics. Man was I impressed. My first test? Bring the front blade down to the pavement and beyond. The blade lifted the tractor 4" off of the ground and I just giggled like a school girl. The deck works perfectly and the 3 point not only works perfectly, but has an incredible amount of travel up and down. The next thing I did was to become familiar with the hydraulic lockout and when it was used/not used (open/closed), then remove the blade.

Time to drive the beast, and drive it I did. I went up my hills, down my hills, sideways on the steepest parts of my hills, waved to the rabbits and a pair of turkeys, the new neighbor, the old neighbor and every car that passed by. It was like I had ordered every toy in the Sears xmas catalog and Santa brought every one of them.

First impressions? The tractor has a smaller turning radius than my X580 had. The tractor feels incredibly stable on the side of very steep hills, much more stable than my 580 ever was. The 4WD?? Wow. No spinning tires, scuffed lawn up down or sideways, and you just have a feeling of complete and safe control at all times. The engine is very, very smooth running, hydraulics are quick, and the drivers station is very well laid out. Another noticeable item is the seat. The JD symbol is embroidered into the seat, the back reclines, and the seat itself is made with a type of material that actually keeps you from sliding around or to the side on hills.

I'll be ordering a grapple from Innovative and modifying my attachments as needed to accommodate the 2" receiver on the 3 point adapter. No need to buy all new attachments, however, everything from here on out will be 3pt only.

Am I happy???? I'm beyond happy, I'm wicked happy!!!! Pictures tomorrow, and thanks for all of the advice I have been given.:tango_face_wink:

I nearly typed out a congrats.

Instead....

There shall heck to pay for not posting pics. I shall instill a near riot feeling to this thread. I don’t let others slide on this, and a tiger doesn’t change his stripes.

That was quick. Did they have that in stock? Maybe add the arm rests to hold you in the seat better. I think there's only three john deeres lawn tractors for sale in my state.

Congrats on a great purchase. I traded my 355D years ago to get 4WD. It was an amazing difference plowing snow. I don't even need chains.

Congrats on the new tractor.
I've drooled over that x7xx series when I'm at the dealer. Dont really need it though, just want one, haha.
Patiently waiting for pics here.

And here's some pictures. I have removed the front quick hitch and 54" blade, but did receive the 3pt hitch adapter. I'll be buying some 2"x2" steel so that I can modify a couple of attachments for use with the adapter, but anything else will be 3PT from now on. The heat up here is doing a number on the lawns, and watering is restricted. So tonight I'll spray the crab grass killer on the front lawn. They can't yell at me for that.
