As some of you may know, I have been looking for a reasonably priced used 47” blower for my X720. In my searching, I have discovered several truths about the 47” blower for the x7xx series:

*It’s pretty easy to find a used blower for every John Deere ever made…. EXCEPT x7xx!

*People must tend to buy the 47” blower for their x7xx and keep them forever!

*Of the few that are out there most are not complete. (missing the quick-hitch or other stuff)

*Of the few I did find that were not even close (like more than 500 miles away) they were all over priced, within a few hundred dollars of new, in some cases MORE than new.

I searched the middle third of the United States for MONTHS. eBay, CL, TractorHouse, MachineFinder, SearchTempest, etc. I was days away from calling the Deere dealer and pulling the trigger on a new one at a cost of $3290. And then……it happened!!!!

The other night I was using SearchTempest to scour through CL, and happened across an X720 for sale a mere 80 miles away. It was complete with 47” blower, 54” blade, suitcase weights, chains….the works! I thought that might not be too bad a deal if I could talk the guy into splitting up the package. You don’t know if you don’t ask, and I knew that I would never feel right about buying a new blower if I didn't at least call this guy and ask first. So I called the guy and talked him into it! I could not grab the cash, hook up the trailer and get on the road fast enough! My score consisted of:

47” blower

54” blade

Front quick-hitch complete w/ hydraulic angling kit

Implement drive and upstop

2000 RPM Mid-PTO driveshaft

Click-and-go bracket setup for the rear

6 suitcase weights

Tire chains

After some bargaining, I got all of this for $2700. Not too spiffy! $600 cheaper than getting just the blower new, and I got all the extra stuff! The only bummer was that the quick-hitch was from a 4X5 series, so I had to drop my mowing deck to unload my goodies off the trailer when I got home. Most of the time you don’t want the mowing deck on when using these attachments, so it’s all good! Patience finally pays off!!

Sounds to me like a win/win situation!
Now the Original owner may be able to get rid of the machine he has easier, just for mowing....

Wow--where is my second cup of :coffee:

Yeah, that was the strategy I used to convince the seller. He just has a complete X720 /w 54" deck to sell at a lower price, and doesn't have to worry about the attachments.

Mach1,

CONGRATS and patience does pay off. After 6 months of searching I got a 54" blade that way.

Now I wonder how long it will be before you start considering the chute rotation mod and putting on a linear actuator to control the deflector of your blower .......

Ha!:ROF Already considering it! I noticed that there are already some pre-drilled holes in the chute and deflector that I could maybe use.......:)
