There's only a few things needed to run an engine, intake,compression,power(spark),exhaust. First is check spark w/ a good plug, by pass carb with gas in plug next and work from there if it fires you have fuel deliver issues. If you don't have spark it could be a coil or kill switch.

I once got a free snowblower that had the wrong plug in it use a manual never just replace with what was in it I go to an Auto Parts store its usually cheaper. The free snowblower fired right up with correct plug.
