Is there a mulch kit available for the 312 46" deck? If so, does anyone have any experience with it? I'd like to be able to mulch my grass rather than the side discharge but not sure how these older decks will perform and if there is even a kit available.

Did you find anything yet? I'm looking for one for my 116. I'm thinking trying the gator blades to see how they work.

Some have just blocked off the discharge chute for mulching.

Make one out of 10 guage metal and bolt it on. Been doing that for years since I first built one for my 1967 JD 112 in the late 1970s. All you have to do is cover the outlet hole. Roger

I've always used 1/2" hardware cloth never tried solid metal.

What do you use to hold it on? Drill holes through the deck?

I had found the mulch "plug" on e-bay and then I realized I could easily make one. Haven't done much mowing lately as it's been pretty dry here.
