Hey Guys we just bought a Huskee lt4200 for my father in law and with not even 3 hours there is a few problems I hope to fix without having to do a warranty claim. the problems are as follow;

1) When you first start the mower and put it in gear sometimes the mower has to be rocked to get it to go
2) 6th and 7th gear does not work
3)the brake pedal pulsates back in the the "N" position
4) when going from "R" to "D" or vise versa something in the rear end pops.

Now I feel this is just a adjustment issue or perhaps from tractor supply storing them outside (which i will never buy a mower that is said to be new but exposed to the elements) however when the mower is in gears 2-5 and mowing it actually does a very good job, I have looked in the manual and called MTD with no help so any help from you guys before going to a service center is appreciated.

You could have a sticky brake. It may need drive belts. Sounds like the varidrive system. belts marked with mtd number are essential. Some people believe that only oem should be used. There is also an adjustment procedure to follow for the drive belts.

I looked at what you said, turned out to be a sticky brake... I read somewhere else on another forum that when riding pull the brake level toward you instead of away from you to check if it’s a brake or pulley issue, but is that bad on the transmission?
