i have a Rally steel deck, and I am thinking of making a brush mower out of it.

I am thinking pneumatic tires, and a decent sized engine.

any input on engine and tires?

Yeah get at least a 5hp or larger motor, remove front wheels cut out the opening reinforce the cut out with 1/2" re-bar weld that in place then use existing holes for front wheels and make skids out out of flat stock I make them so you have 3" ground clearance. Now this will be a push type brush mower? The smallest brush mower DR had was, well they use to make was only powered a 9hp motor, guess it was a poor seller it not listed any longer. I`d also use the heaviest blade I could find, they take a beating and thin mower blade may even break.....think about that before starting project.

i could use a 10hp diesel If I can find one cheap, and use a RAGB to drive the blade.

yes, push type, but I have a 3+r Peerless 600 trans axle here that I could use to make it propelled.
