Mower Deck Woes

Hello Friends!

I've managed to create a situation for myself. I'm restoring a Sears 917.253582 42 inch mower deck. I bought a set of bearings for it, and I managed to press the wrong bearing race into the center mandrel tube. It stretched it out and scored the inside of the tube so much that the correct bearing race no longer fits tightly in the tube. In short, I messed it up good. I've considered a few ideas, including shimming between the tube and the race, but I hate to go down that road on a restoration. I'd really like to find another center mandrel tube (Part# 634A427).

Does anyone have one of those lying around? Do you have any other suggestions (besides "Pay more attention next time!" :tango_face_grin:)?

Thanks.

I have a set of all three mandrels for that deck, not really "lying around", I took a deck apart to fix it, but I think I have 3 or 4 complete decks, so it sat off to the side, and still does... I think the bearings in the one I have are smooth but a little noisy. They don't have rusty spots in them, like a lot do, but they probably were run pretty dry before I got the deck.

I may be willing to sell them, but I can't give them away too cheap since that really is the main mandrel that dies in a deck...
Well, I'm definitely interested in the center mandrel, and I might take all 3 if you can offer a good package deal. Please PM me with pricing.

Thanks.
I'm still looking for a center mandrel tube, or maybe a whole set if the price is right.
