Model 130 carb tuning?

Anyone out there tell an ignoramous such as I how to tune this carb?

to give an update to my project 130. Changed the solenoid and then it appears everyone was right that there is an ignition problem but my parts dealer said the ignition repair kit doesn't work on the 9 hp engine only on the 12 hp... so i left with out it and so now it doesn't turn over with out jumping the new solenoid... but I can get around that later

the bigger problem was all of the gasoline that was finding its way into the crank case. Thought the motor was toast but after research on here and talking with local repair shop they said carb needed a rebuild... well I found a brand new in box carb on ebay for 2 bucks more than the rebuild kit so I decided to buy the new one and got it installed no problem, and changed the oil... got it to fire up with choke set on to start let it run for a bit and lowered the choke lever and it stalled out, and I haven't been able to get it started since. Any ideas or direction on how to get this carb tuned to get this to run?

Well, here's the diagram for it out of the parts catalog...

I'm thinking the screw labelled #10 MIGHT be the idle mix adjust screw... Not sure, as I've only ever looked at the carb on my 160, which is substantially different... And #9 would probably be the idle speed adjustment screw... basically it would keep the throttle valve open further the further you tighten it up... So, maybe see about turning IT in half-way to see if the machine will continue to run when not choked, then adjust the idle speed mix...

Easy for ME to say, I'm an entire continent north of ya and could be talking out my bum :) .... Maybe there'll be a 130 owner along who can be more definitive than me.

You are right on LTG :fing32: I too would try adjusting the carb first. Are you certain it is the correct carb? If that doesn't help cover all the bases fuel, spark and compression what is missing. :goodl:

WOW! Stladrill, that's an awesome carb resource! You really ARE the Mike Holmes of tractors! :fing32:
:thanku:for the nice comment.
Thank you, I hope to tinker with it tomorrow to see if I can get it to work
