Been trying to find some more lawn tractors for either parts or to fix for my plesure. Mother is riding my arse bout that but thats another topic. Anyways. I got a email yesterday stating that they had a "Craftsman 21HP Special Edition" From what I have found just by google is that it might be a intec engine. She said that it was just the body as the engine is "blown" but I am seeing if she also has the engine. Might be a good "swap" to take my 22 Kohler and put it in there. She says its mid 90's but I can't find a special edition mid 90's craftsman. I will post the model and asking when I have a reply from her.

Whats the avrg price of a tractor with no engine?

Might be a DYT4000... price for tractor less motor is 50-200 depending on condition and other usable parts.

If this is a DGT 4000, Can I expect any Briggs or Kohler Vertical shaft to just drop in? Any weaknesses on these tractors? The rears keyed or bolted? Any features that make this a "Special Edition"?

I personally would not pay that much for a newer machine with no motor- now if it was a classic sears with a loader and no engine...

I would offer the guy like $150, maybe go up to $200 (if the rest of the machine is REALLY nice) and anything over that I would forget it- It may cost you several hundred to get a good replacement motor for it...

Indeed, Scrap price for it, they would be lucky to get 50.00. Shouldn't it being "newer" Lower the price anyways? :banghead3: So what are the plus's of this machine that make it a special edition?

x2 on what James said. Its a lawn tractor, keyed 8" rims, vertical shaft engine.. nothing special about it except the name really. If it has a deck and bagger, $200 would be my top number

Nope, the YT in DYT stands for "yard tractor" aka a lawn tractor. Besides mowing, its good for LIGHT DUTY snow plowing or blowing, and towing a cart or dethatcher or aerator.

I would get a real model number before making any type of offer. Also, if the engine was removed, you don't know what else may be missing (pulleys, wires, etc.).

I can tell right now that is either a LT2000 or DLT2000 and it ain't no mid 90's its a early 2000's, I'd say a 2002-2004 model. The LT means Lawn Tractor, so its not a garden tractor. Plus it's to small to be a GT.
Good luck on your decision:trink39:

Oh, I forgot, I'm not sure what make's it a special edition. I've never seen a special edition on that body style either, unless its the engine or something. And the only special edition I can think of in that time period was the DYT4000 Bob Villa Special Edition but, it was a different body style, and was black, not grey. It had the 21 HP Briggs V-Twin, but was the YT series not the LT series.

I would agree that nose looks like an early 2000s. I had a 2003 DLT3000 which looked identical (except it was red). Mine had a 25hp Briggs Intek Twin.

Not sure if this helps, other than narrowing down the vintage. 90s noses looked much different.

Ok, Still waiting on the reply with a model and pics. She says its in a storage shed that is not shoveled. So this might not end up being it. She said it came with the house.
