OK all you Suburban guys I have a question, while reading the Owners Manual for the Sub snowblower it says to remove the side piece from the grill so the PTO belt can go to the snowblower, was there such a part that filled in on the RH side of the grill to even it out? I've not seen one on e bay or elsewhere.

Yup, they had a removable piece on the lower right hand side, just depended on which pulley you needed to use on whether it needed to come of or not.

I guess I'll take the plunge. The right side of the lower grill had to be removed from most of the "suburban" type tractors. The grill pattern varied depending on the year and the model.

Here is an example of a grill with the side attached

here is a different style with the "side' attached

Here is a picture showing the snowblower installed on a tractor, with the "side" unbolted

(from stripmine's post here )

As far as locating the "extra" part of the grill. They are kind of rare. If you happen to be in the right place at the right time, you may find one. But often it's easier just to buy a complete lower grill.

Here is one that didn't sell on eBay recently http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sears-Tractor-Suburban12-Grill-Insert-/260909425731?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cbf69e443

This is the grill it went with... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=260909394291

Good luck and I hope it helps.

There was no removable piece on the flywheel side to even it out, only the PTO side

There was one for your machine for sale just a week or so ago- I have spent quite a bit on those for some of my machines... They are often lost

Hi GT 80, yea I suppose they get taken off for attachment use and put up and forgotten, the tractor gets sold and the new owner doesn't know it missing. I watch e bay all the time but apparently they get listed were I don't look but I'll be watching now. I may try my hand at making one for my tractor.

I think only one of my 4 Suburbans still has that peice, one of the '67 Suburban 12's,that was likely only used to mow ,dont appear it was ever used to plow or snowblow...

It looks like to me one could be made out of hardwood fairly easily,if you had a router to make the same "moulding" as the other side of the grille has...mine will likely remain missing,as I'm not to worried about looks ,I'm more concerned with how it works!..
