Hi, my name is Paul and I have just bought my first tractor, a mf35 to do work on our hobby farm. I do have a problem with the pto drive tho'. I cannot get it to turn at engine speed it will only drive at ground speed, even when the selector is at engine speed ground is all I get. The selector seems to be engaging ok, I'm wondering if I am doing something wrong. Any help would be great.:thanku:

Not sure of your model, but I think it has a 2 stage clutch, firt stage dis-engages the engine and transmission and the second stage dis-engages the pto,so you have to push it all the way down and pull the lever all the way back to engage to the engine .The clutch might need some adjusting too.

Thanks for the info Tommy. It looks like my tractor doesn't have the 2 stage clutch, should it be obvious if it is fitted? I have tried everything I can think of, next stage is to start taking it apart, any tips on where I should start. The obvious place to me is were the selector bolts onto the gearbox. The seriel number of the tractor is SGM 246812, I think this makes it a 64'

YIPPEE!, I've sorted the pto problem, I thought I would risk it and take the pto selector leaver off. I tipped over the tractor so as to not loose any oil and low and behold, the selector wasn't located onto the sliding collar. I put it back together and jobs a goodn'. I love my mf35 now, its so easy to work on ( probably change my mind when something else goes wrong). Thanks to everyone that gave me info. One thing tho' , the 2 stage clutch doesn't work properly, how do I adjust it?
