I ran across a tractor in a quanset with the deck and owners manual for the tractor and mower deck...got me thinking to fix it up for use around the house. It has sat for 20 years I'd guess. don't know why it was parked.
Question is are there any issues getting parts for something like this?

I like projects and all, but mission impossible part hunts leave me lacking interest. A quick look tells me its pretty complete...but I didnt do a super examination of it. It wouldnt replace anything but give me something different to run occassionally.

Are these very rare? as in I should save this one from rotting away in darkness??

Thanks for any tips.

According to the Massey Ferguson by Serial Number stickey at the top of the index page, over 56,000 gear drive models and something over 4171 Hydro versions.

The original engines are becoming scarce (Tecumseh's out of business). The odd one shows up on eBay. A repower may be in order.

I have a MF7H and an 8H that both need refurbishing. They're also a little down the list, so I haven't started looking for parts yet. The 7 will be my grandsons when I get it done. He's 8 months old, and I'm aiming for his 7th birthday. Hopefully, I have enough time.

I hear they are very manoeuverable for mowing, and it would be fun for just running around anyway. You'll have a hard time finding a better quality, more capable, new lawn tractor today.

Well worth the effort as a project. If it's only had 20 years of service, it should be in relatively good shape, mechanically. There are still some out there that have seen actual service for the full 40 years. Free up the engine and linkages, new rubber all around, and go from there.

Check for build threads on these little fellows. Some have been brought back to showroom condition and put back to work.

I aquired an MF8 with the 30 inch deck under it last summer. Great little tractor, very nimble, turns tight. I bought it, worked on it, put new blades on it and went to mow......and the engine threw the rod.
I looked and found a tecumseh Formula 10 on ebay for 400+ and it pretty much was a drop in fit after I removed the fuel tank and reworked the oil dipstick. Been doing well since.

Well then it sounds like I'm gonna add this to the project list. I'll get some photos of it next time I head out.
I'm sure I'll be asking some questions that the manuals don't answer.
