Hello. I did a search and read a few articles on oil type & changes, but wanted to reassure my guess - cuz that'swhat I do guess a lot :thThumbsU

My tractor is a 1961 (I think) MF35 w/Perkins Diesel.

Q #1:What type of oil is used in older tractors? I have had old motorcycles, and always used Non-Detergent in those - will that work? I have some of that on hand. :fing32:

Q #2:Also, how MUCH do I need - so when I go to parts house I can buy enough.

I have my service manual for MF35, all 383 pages, but in regards to oil it says things like petrol, V.O, and L.O and I have no clue what that means.

THANKS GUYS! :trink39:

(anybody got parts for a MF '61?)

Use 15/40 diesel rated motor oil, it takes 6 quarts + 1 pint with new filter

Cool thanks! So no one ever uses/needs VO. or LO. anymore right? What is modern day equivalent?

I got oil drained, cleaned filter holder & got new filter (pretty sludgy in there). I think she'll breathe better if I find the fuel bolt and get her started! - Cheers, Troy.
