Looks like a good concept. I guess it would depend on the durability of the blades. This was discussed awhile back either on this forum or another forum, but I don't remember what the consensus was.
I have watched the video and I have a hard time watching what they bring up out of the grass to show no clippings and what is being discharged. Just doesn't match up to me. I also wonder about doubling the number of edges to sharpen and how to balance the system. I'm interested in the concept, but would want more first hand viewing of the results before plunking down that kind of money.
Seems it might be expensive to outfit a large deck. I would have to see it operate in person. Seems to be a bush hog design.
kind of a hybrid rotory cutter/finish mower thing, might work, but I bet it's not worth the $$$. standard mower deck has worked pretty good for many years.

I think you just replace the knives, you dont sharpen them if I remember right. I seen the ads in magazines but never inquired about them. I may be wrong about the sharpening.
Meg mo, schmeg mo... Too hi buckmo! Jacobsen walkers had the right idea in the Sixties with it's replaceable "blades" mounted on a steel disk. The blades were sickle bar teeth and you got 2 uses out of each one. One side got too bunged up to sharpen you just turned it over. There were 2 per disk plus bolt on "lift wings" for suction. My Dad's cut like a bandit. (Even though he spiraled down in flames once.:ROF) I can't figger out why that idea hasn't been upgraded or used since in one form or another.
Well after 2 years of talking to myself into them and out of them I ordered a set today for my 54C deck. I should have them sometime next week and hopefully by then I will need to mow and give them a review. slkpk

4 more days of rolling, then maybe a week till mowing. Yep, my free time is over for a while. :crybaby:
slkpk,

Let us know how it works out. :)
How about Gator blades? Anybody heard of them? :ROF Just kidding. Seriously, though, I was planning to buy a set of them come mowing season (not far away!), but I'll hold off now until we hear from ya, slkpk, on these blades! I'll be watching this thread! Thanks slkpk for using your money to educate us all on an forum's first.

Well I was going to buy new gators this year so I thought I would give this a try and we'll see what happens. slkpk
I have used meg-mo for more then 5 yr. They will do you a good job. All you change is the kniver on the disc. Meg-mo and gater blades are muiching blades.

:MTF_wel: and which do you like the best? Gators or Meg- Mo and why?
Thanks, slkpk
I didn't get the meg-mo like I had hoped. I'm calling on Monday to see when I'll be getting it. slkpk
With any luck it should be here today or Friday. They're waiting on an order to come in from their supplier. slkpk
It finally came in today. I will get some pics of it tonight when I get home from work. slkpk
Some pics of the Meg-Mo out of the box and onto the 54C deck. These are made very stout and only 1 way to put them on. You use the washer from Deere and Meg-MO sends you 3 new longer bolts.
