I took a photolog a assembling the small parts an the wheel clutches. ESbob and 1lawnboy will be doing the swap soon. This is an M drive but should apply to any of the newer LB's

Start at the bottom pic and work to the top.

Thanks! I always stack them all on top of each other the way they come off.

Seems like a lot of stuff for a wheel...but it all has a purpose.

Very nice.:fing32:
A simple "photolog"? More like the Budweiser® Post of the Day. :trink39: Yet another example of how so many members of this forum offer an invaluable resource. :thanku: I survived knocking my "stack" of drive-train parts over, but some day this will save someone's sanity.
I have found that if they white plastic spacer that the cam rocks into gets chewed up if too much crud gets in the drives.......
I replaced mine and enjoyed a super smooth roll back and shoulder popping pull on the drive bail.

I would also recommend a thorough cleaning of all these parts and regreasing with synthetic grease.

A quick step by step on how to remove an M trans

1 Remove the both access covers

2 Disconnect both cables

2a Remove the trans pulley to disconnect belt

3 remove both rear wheels (the washer goes between the gear cover and the wheel.

4 Remove the 3 torx( T40) screws from the height adjusters.

5 Disassemble a wheel clutch on one side placing all parts on a clean surface in the order they're removed

6 Avoid tripping over, stepping on, letting your child touch, this line of parts. The parts viewer is not exactly high resolution!

7 Once you pull the inner most lock washer the height adjuster can be removed. Remove the axle spacer and Ring isolater and set aside remember the assembly order.

8 The trans is free! Simply work it out of the deck.

Notes there are several wear items in the drives that could be serviced.

axle bushings
friction ring( which looks like a felt washer
clutch ring and rocking key
and don't forget regreasing the trans!

The hardest part of the re installation is getting the the inside "ring locking clip" installed. The inside ring clips are what hold the height adjusters on.
