I have a JD LT155 I purchased very used! I was hearing a loud grinding coming from underneath and eventually the belt fell off. I noticed the transmission fan extremely bent and rubbing on the belt (which was also loose) throwing it off. Replaced the fan and the belt but now when I engage the parking break and/or push forward or backward pedal the fan and pulley shake and there is an even louder grinding noise. Is this maybe just the spacers worn down or is the transmission shot? Help please!

It's possible but not likely. Shaft is harder metal than the pulley. See if you can spin the pulley on the shaft. You might be able to see the small section of shaft between the pulley and transaxle to see if it spins when you turn the pulley

I could not see the small section of the shaft but I could feel a grinding while turning the pulley which leads me to believe you are 100% correct. Pulley ordered, I will update after I get it changed. Thank you very much kind sir!

I did do it that way. Change of plans, pulley splines were almost nonexistent. I drove to the JD dealer where I purchased a new pulley and a new spacer. Waiting for my subway then going to replace pulley! After comparing new and old pulleys I feel so dumb. Thank you again for your help and I hope this helps other beginner DIY mechanics.
