It is a 73 SS/16. I bought it from Cody, a MTF member who lives about 125 miles from me. What a nice guy:trink39:. He met me at the Interstate 40, after fighting a fire all night:fing32:. It is missing a few parts, but it is mostly there, including a almost mint upper grill. it came with a rebuilt starter, and a 3 point hitch. I will be parting this one out. I think Dirt Dog is going to go in halves with me on it. Well enough of that , here are some pictures I took of it.

Nice parts machine, I'll give ya $10 for the upper grill. :fing32:

OH, and I think that the only reason it followed you home, is because you had it tied to the trailer you were pulling, otherwise it might have got away.

I turned it a little today, It feels like it will run it has compression. No knock when you turn it back and forth. If it had the starter back on it and some electrical work, and a carb on it we'll see what it sounds like.

Hugh, it is a short handled one that has been painted black, and had some extra parts weld to it. I am going to keep the lower parts of it. sorry

Nice find. Looks to be in pretty good shape, I would put it back together.

I am interested in the removable right lower grill piece and the battery hold down if they will fit my 1977 18/6 Twin. Let me know if they are and what youo want for them.

All I can get LOL!! I really was planing on keeping most of it for spare parts for my 16/6 twin, but the way every one keeps asking about stuff.Hmmmm it has me thinking.

I worked on the SS16 today. i took off all the tins, spun the engine over by hand. It feels really good, no knocks of any kind, end play feels right. I believe it will run. Tommarow I plan to put the starter on , maybe a carb and see if it will run. Oh yeah I took more pic's.

Finally got by today,sorry it took so long Floyd.Great feeling on the engine!I think it's gonna run good.Get the carb of the one I got for free if you get a chance.You know it works.Can't wait to hear it run!

Thanks DIRT Dog, I'm going to try to get by there tommarow. If I can get some one to set with dad, while I drop by. I think it is going to run pretty good. Seeing that we couldn't make it rattle by hand. I have to find my 3/8th bolt can to see if I have some starter bolts. I didn't work on the tractor today, it was raining all day. Hopefully it wont rain tommarow.:fing32:

Wow! Great find. I can't wait to hear you say you got it running. After hearing some of your past stories I am thinking it will run good. I'll bet you got a good deal on it.

If you can get the steering wheel off in one piece I may be interested in that. I like the smaller 2 spoke ones- course, mine probably won't come off either...
