Hi all,
Has anyone converted there 165 to a shaft drive? the hydro drive unit on mine is crap and I would rather get rid of it. Would a rear from a cub fit?

thank's

I'm sure you could addapt anything with enough effort, but no it wouldn't be a easy swap. Whats wrong with the hydro? Is it bad or do you just not like Hyro's in general<

That is correct but the shaft drives a hydrostatic trans.

You want to convert it from hydro to gear-
It might be easier to adapt a three speed and hi-low rear end from a Sears SS. The frame was a closer width than the gear LGT, plus the brake is in close to the same spot. Either way, you will need a 90* gear box to go from the engine shaft drive to the transaxle belt drive, and a lot of modification work.

I ended up picking up a JD 1026R and put the 165 on the backburner. Skyrydr2, that trans is perfect. I'm taking the 165 apart and going to adapt that one. Thank's for the info.
