Legacy / hydraulics question

Does anyone know if all Legacy's have hydraulics on them to hook up a FEL? I found one about an hour away from me that looks to be in good shape. All the ad said was it is a 27 hp hydro 2wd Legacy DS. What's the "DS" stand for? I emailed the dealer for some details on the tractor but I thought I would ask about the hydraulics on here just to educate myself because I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people on board here. TIA for your help. :trink39:

on the older legacys (non xl) the hydraulic pump came with the loader. You would then attach the pump to the front pto. They were made this way till about 2004. So to answer your question the older legacys did not have the needed pump on board. The newer xl someone else is going to have to chime in cause I don't know.

I've never heard of a legacy DS. But it maybe his way of saying diesel. Otherwise never heard of it. DS is not a tiller or loader. It's not air cooled or liquid cooled. Like mine 2020LC LC would indicate liquid cooled.
Just got a response back from the dealer:

"Simplicity made the Legacy 1693112 from 2001 to 2003. The serial number would indicate a early year model 2001 or 2002. It has a 60' deck, 1224 hours, Briggs and Stratton Daihatsu 24.5hp Diesel engine. It in good condition for the hours on it."

I guess the "DS" was his way of designating a diesel engine. This would be an early model so I guess it would only have the front pto to attach the pump. I got to think about this one............:thanku:

As Firefighter said The Older Kwik-way Loaders For the legacy Used a PTO Pump the Legacy XL's use The tractors Internal Hydraulic system and The Kwik-way Loaders For the Legacy XL are walk On and Walk Off Loaders the Older Loaders are Not for the Standard Legacy:thThumbsU

Cadman; you can probably look along the frame rails right under the hood. You don't even have to bend down and see the two hydraulic connectors for the FEL on the newer XL. Those take the Kwik way walk on FEL. If those aren't there then you probably have what the guys describe one that needs a separate pump and lines. The new one is already plumbed in whether you buy it with the FEL or not.
