Leaking Steering wheel column

Here is a good one. I had a small leak out of the top of the steering column. I bought the upper seal and o-ring installed them, put everything back together and now I don't have a small leak, I have a geyser coming out the top of the steering column. Any Ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Charlie
