Hi everyone! In trying to research the year of my Bricktop edger I have come across a part number difference in the reed plates. The model 1015 edger with the years 1972, 1973, and 1974 call for reed plate number 679711.
The 1970 and 1971, as well as '68 and '69 edgers call for reed plate number 486718. If anyone can shed some light on what the difference might be, please let me know. I have found 679711 on eBay but no pictures of 486718. Also, if anyone has a 1015 edger could you tell me if either belt pulley is cogged as there are two different pulleys listed for the 1015. Also let me know if your edgers have the metal flywheel cover or the plastic flywheel cover. I'm going to narrow down the year of this edger one way or another. I have it narrowed down to 1970, 1971, or early 1972. Thanks for your help. I know you guys have the answers. Bill

Also wanted to ask if those of you who have a 1970 through 1974 would check your fuel mix deals to see if they say 16:1 or 32:1. Toro just emailed me and said 1972 and newer used 32:1 and 1971 and older used 16:1 which seems funny because the same D-462 motor was used from 1970 through 1974 on the edger and they all have the 2 ring piston. Thanks!

I will give mine a good look over tomorrow morning and get back to you. I know there's several members here that have them so we may be able to get it all narrowed down!

Things I do know, my flywheel cover is metal, just like yours, and neither pulley is cogged.

Hi guys! As far as identifying the year of this edger please see my newest post requesting some additional information about the spindle housing and pivot assembly. Thanks, Bill
