just wondered how you all compare your lawn-boys to other types of mower, like the honda IZY's and other 4-stroke mowers.

To be honest, hadn't actually heard of lawn-boys before coming on here....Only ever used self propelled honda's and some other 4-strokes....just wondereing whether replacing my various 4-strokes with lawn-boys as they wear out would be an idea....as they're bound to start biting the dust soon with day-in-day-out use.

not had a problem (yet) with my 5.5hp izy which i've been using commerically 2 years running...but maybe i'm missing out on better performance using these machines?...

Thanks in advance for you oppinions

the honda isnt the holy grail for comm use. it has several shortcommings. lousey mulcher-the drive shaft fails-often! and the front wheel height adjusters are way too flimsey for comm duty. i used a honda for 15 years daily and still have it. i just dont use it as its a terriable mulcher. the main benifit for the lawnboy is power! nothing else stacks up or is even close. the john deere 14sb-jx75 is the best of all lawnmowers as it does everything well. the toro proline is a close second and would get the nod if the gears wernt so widely spaced apart. jd has 5-toro has only 3

Yes, you are missing out. I gave away my Honda SP Harmony ZTR mower after getting a used LB (10550). No comparison at all! Even as sweet as the DuraForce 10550 Gold is, it has been benched to second string after I got my $50 10515 Gold LB!! Love that 3 speed SP trans! The LBs are strong cutting, light weight machines. It helps if you have some mechanical ability with the 2 strokes though....

Yeah I have noticed that all LB retailers seen to be outside of the UK, but I figure if you look hard enough you always find what you want...in the end.

Thanks for the feedback, yeah I agree the IZY isn't the best commercial machine out there, plus it's v.slow...just what I could afford when I set up business. Not had any issues with the drive-shaft...yet. Just a few cables snapped and belt replacements here and there.
