In the process of changing the bottom seal on my 1989 S21BSN. With the old seal removed and looking into the seal cavity I notice two drops of epoxy on opposite sides that was used at the factory to seal the head with the casing. The drops measured about 2-4mm. These hard epoxy flashings could prevent the seal from seating flush on the champher.
If you observe them they should me removed.
